Montessorium: Intro to Math App Reviews

No sound!

What a waste of money! No sound means no instructions and no idea what the tasks are! Very disappointing!

No Translations!

Only in English availaible, which is a real bummer! Please add a german translation asap. Bugs: - Volumecontrol doesnt work... - Itemes snap sometimes to wired places... Other than that: Nice Idea and App!

Very Good

The App. is a very good way for young children to learn numbers. As parent from a multilingual family (French, German) I find it particularly good that it supports multiple languages, although this is linked to the iPad language settings. It would be better to be able to choose the language from within the app. itself.

Fantastic App

Our 2 1/2 year old daughter is really starting to enjoy this app. Its simple, easy to learn and visually fantastic. We knew very little about the Montessori way of teaching but this app has really piqued our interest. Already looking forward to the next installment. Keep up the great work!

Nice and neat

My three years old daughter loves it. Even though they seem to be easy for her, but she still enjoys to play with it.

Not fond of game

My 3 year old has trouble tracing the letters and I cant even do it when she asks for help it gets stuck. Too much explanation for youngsters.

Intro to Math

This may amuse some children and possibly frustrate others, either way it has very little to do with Montessori. In fact it ignores and even contravenes more of Montessoris basic principles than it promotes! Parents would be wise to explore Montessoris views on education before shelling out five bucks.

Playing and learning

I have no particular brief for or against the M. philosophy of education. Its a little tricky to spell, and it really seems an upper-middle-class phenomenon, both of which irritate me a little. However, I know thats got nothing to do with education. I *do* like this app, because it seems to move in deliberate, thoughtful stages without over-focussing on specific details. Its enough for me that we think carefully about how we teach -- this app certainly does that. And it has no Disney characters, which is a great relief.

Not worth the $

Looks appealing but lacks many features other apps possess. No ability to customize, does not re-set or give instructions once a task completed, no praise or reward for task completion ( if thats important to you), lacks verbal instruction, tiny "back" button makes it difficult for toddler to use without help. Way way way overpriced for whats offered. Try grasshopper apps for montessori apps-More affordable and far better design.

Powerful learning tool for toddlers

Use this with your two-year or three-year or even four-year old to prepare them for a life of understanding, comprehension, and capability. This is one of the best apps for early learning, for your kids. Play with learning early together with your children. Early learning TOGETHER with you will give them confidence and peace of mind.

Think before you buy this app for your Kid

Application is nice looking but is not well suited for Kids: 1. responsivnes is very poor - you have to very accurate to move objects 2. application do not follow the paradigm of "change your state when I click" which is ver irritating for Kids. Kids have to wait until lector finishes his talk before they can do something else 3. objects (especially numbers) are very small and not well distinguished - e.g. 10 and 1 are very often treated as 1 4. it is hard to drag numbers summarizing: idea is well suited for kids while interface is well suited for grownups

Very very slow((((

Frustrating and Complicated

This app is garbage. I was using it with my child and noticed that it wants the user to perfectly or you will never get your child to the next step. I was hoping a Montessori app would be of greater use to me. The ides is great and the activities are appropriate but they dont work well on an iPad.

Awesome.

The price put me off, but I finally bought this game for my four-year-old, and Im really glad I did. She has a fair selection of spelling and matching games she likes, but we hadnt found a good math game, despite trying a few. None of them seemed to interest her much. Then theres this app. I dont think Ive ever seen her as engaged with the iPad as when shes playing it, and even her eleven-month old sister is completely transfixed by it. Its really gorgeous, and works very well. The progression through the games is good, getting harder and building on what you did previously. I see quite a few people complaining about the game. Some complaints are valid: the drag & drop and tracing could be more forgiving, and it would be great to jump around inside the different games. Its definitely aimed at younger kids. Its called INTRO to math, after all. Regardless, its very engaging and well-designed, and Im quite happy with the purchase overall. Im definitely considering the word game by the same developer.

Very disappointed!

This app LOOKS beautiful, and I had read rave reviews on various websites. However, I refused to buy the app at such a high price. When I saw it .99 cents, I was delighted. Until I tried it out. Horrid. Each game has a lag, it is almost totally unresponsive, and the game concepts are unclear. Some games dont even work at all. Frustrating for an adult medical student; there is no way Im foing to present this to my kid. Tracing looks terrible even by skilled adult fingers. This is pure advertising manipulation, all form and no substance. I want a refund!

There a glitch!!!!

There a glitch on the fourth lesson after you finish the lesson only the number 10 appears but it will ask for a random number!!!!

So not worth the price

No way is this app worth $5. It has nice graphics, but you can get nice graphics most anywhere & pay a lot less. Ill give it 2 stars but it is so not worth $5. Wish I could get a refund.

Utterly Amazing!

My wife and I were agog at how quickly our three 1/2 year old mastered understanding and expressing numbers. The iPad of course was a big part of the fascination for her. She was eager to use it and quickly grasped what to do. We had similar success with their "Intro to Letters" App

Taught my kid numbers

I cant believe the good this app and, obviously, the iPad did our kids, especially our delayed 5 year-old. Opened up his eyes and learned! Thank you and please make more apps like this one. THANK YOU! -- A grateful parent

Nice app for Montessorians!

I will say that I also believe these Montessorium,LLC apps are overpriced, or should do more. But I am very impressed at how consistent these activities are to the real-life works. They move from concrete to abstract, just as in the classroom. Very easy to use for little fingers (except for dragging to target, see comment below). Love the variety for my rising preK, and review for my K. My suggestions that I am sure you are capable of: need teens works, not just 1-10. Create different levels for patterning. Where are the bead chains? Please add these. The dragging an object tasks are very particular for little fingers.
