Montessorium: Intro to Math App Reviews

Crashes!!

Weve had this App for 25 minutes and it has crashed twice. It is quite irritating because Ive had to reinstall it twice. My 4 year old loves it though. Ill gladly retract this bad review if they fix the bug.

Just like the works at school

My 4 year old loves this app. The tasks replicate what Montessori students do in the classroom so this app is a great educational supplement. Though we have had some trouble with it being slow, weve not had any of the glitches mentioned in other reviews.

One of the better math programs. Great for 3-4 year olds

This program is designed well. My child picked up on it instantly. The teaching method is true to the Montessori approach. I wish there was more drills available, especially for $4.99. That would have given it 5 stars.

Just Like School

Minutes after beginning to use this app my 4-year old daughter exclaimed that it was "just like at school mommy!" She has been in Montessori for 2 years now. All the lessons are familiar to her and she enjoys them. Im knocking off a star because a day later she complained that its now too easy for her. She still plays with it, but an update with higher numbers would make this app more worth the high price. Otherwise Id only recommend it for 2-3 year olds.

Clean App!

While, I was hesitant to spend $5 on this application, I am very glad I did! Great hands-on activities that build beautifully on each of the Montessori counting concepts. Audio accompanies appropriately, sounds interact subtly along with very pleasing affirmations during simple lessons, so my child feels a strong sense accomplishment while working in this app. "Shake to clean" perfect way to end this session. Kudos Montessorium! Would buy again!

Love this app

I have very high expectations as a teacher and this app is awesome! At first I thought it was just 5 activities, but each one has several levels. My only suggestion is to move the arrow and info buttons to the top corners on the tracing activity. My daughters hand sometimes drags and accidentally hits the buttons.

A little frustrated

Great app. My main frustration is the inability to select the various levels within a lesson. Instead my child must complete all the basic levels before getting to something more challenging. He loses interest on the easy stuff and doesnt get to the more challenging stuff. An update allowing level selection would be fantastic!

Outstanding!

Use this app with my 3.5 year old. Loves it and always looks foward to using it. Cheers and claps for herself after every achievement! Also repeats each number after she hears it. Please make more apps.

beautiful but has problems

My 3yo enjoys this, and its beautiful. The number rods are absolutely wonderful. However, at least on our ipod touch, it has a hard time following her finger movements. When she drags and drops numbers, it doesnt always "stick", and the sandpaper numbers are very difficult to do, even for me and my 8yo; my 3yo finds it extremely frustrating. Im really hoping for an update that fixes this.

Frustrating for little fingers

It is clear that this app was designed for the iPad. It is just too small on the iPhone and my kids just get frustrated. I think it is lovely and I like that it isnt very noisy, but theres no point if the kids its designed for cant use it.

Impressive!

My 4 yr old is attending a Montessori school so I purchased this app for reinforcement learning. He has greatly enjoyed it and, as a parent, I have been pleased with the content. Would love to see them add 11-20 level (up to 30 would be ideal!) as my son has grown bored of just 1-10. He also gets frustrated having to start each level from the beginning if he had to stop a previous session before finishing it. It would be great if the app could remember where he left off.

Controls are hard to use and way too sensitive

Could be a really good app but the controls are terrible.

Love it!

Great app! Please make more! My 4 yo does great with this. We couldnt afford to send her to a Montessori school but we do apply the method at home. This reinforced her difficult area of numbers. Thanks so much!

Very limited

First the good things - good look and feel. Has the finish of well made app. Now onto where I find it limiting - a very small set of things to do with the annoying voice

Great App, But no Save?

I love this app. It is not the cheapest app, but it is very well done, with great graphics. For my 3-year old, who can count to 100 but is first understanding the relationship of the numbers, which are bigger, how much bigger, etc, this app is a great. However Im frustrated that each time you start the app it starts from the beginning as if it has never been used. For a kid with the attention span of a, well, three-year-old, he tends to jump around. He tends to repeat the same exercises but not get to the more advanced work. I would like to see the developers add to this app the ability to remember where the child left off.

Not for iPhone

Dont buy this if you are using an iPhone. It does not function properly on the small screen. The sandpaper letters get stuck and cannot be completed. The drag and drop numbers do not snap into place unless very precise movement are used--movements a very coordinated 4-year old (an even mom) cant manage. Both my son and I were excited about this app, but it frustrated him to tears. I cant figure out why they have not created a fix for these problems. What a waste of $. Jennifer

pre-math and post-math

the great thing about this app is that it can appeal to children who are pre-math problems and even to children who have started simple addition and subtraction. both my girls (ages 3 and 5) love it! its not free, but it is worth it!

Not worth the money

the app is okay. i just thought there would be more to it. my kid liked it at first but is kind of bored with it after a few days. you could buy a few other apps for variety for the price of this one.

Number shape inconsistency

This is an elegant app that holds the interest of my three year old and for parts of it, even my kindergartner. There is a small design flaw. When you trace the shape of the number 4, it is a different shape than the number 4s that appear elsewhere. Of course children eventually need to be able to recognize different versions of letters and numbers, but for this early learning app, I think the shapes should be consistent.

high cost for not much to do.

All of the work only goes up to 10. It has very nice graphics, but I was very disapointed with it. It might be good for maybe a 2 year old, but no older. :( Ive been looking for good math apps. for my child and thought Id found a good one. Too bad.
