Montessorium: Intro to Math App Recensioni

un bluff

funzionalità limitate mi aspettavo di più.... il prezzo è esagerato non acquistate

Ottimo

Ottimo strumento di sviluppo

Ottimo

Validissimo strumento educativo. Curato in tutti i dettagli.

Good app

I like this app a lot I have seen my 3year old sister’s improvement in identifying and writing numbers

Authentic and beautiful

This is the way Montessori apps should be done. This works so well. A must have app for any 2 year old. Maria Montessori would have been proud. The App is extremely designed and stays true to Montessori principals. We use this in our school and the progress children make is remarkable. Because of the automatic correction system it helps with consistency and easy supervision.

Game

Good game lots of fun

Help!

I am so excited about playing this game with my kiddo but every time I try to open the app, it closes before it can make it to the menu. I've tried rebooting my phone and reinstalling the app but no luck. We love Intro to Letter and Colors and would really like to be able to do Intro to Numbers too.

Frustrating and Complicated

This app is garbage. I was using it with my child and noticed that it wants the user to perfectly or you will never get your child to the next step. I was hoping a Montessori app would be of greater use to me. The ides is great and the activities are appropriate but they don't work well on an iPad.

Fun 1-10 Math App

This app is great for teaching and reinforcing 1-10 number skills. It uses several Montessori activities as its foundation for teaching and reinforcing 1-10 numerals and 1-10 quantities. It has 6 different choices of games. Some of the games have different levels of play to them. The voices are sweet and kind. The interface is child friendly. The app does not go off into all sorts of wild and crazy distracting noises and graphics, but is simple and to the point. It focuses on the objective of learning. The app does not make lots of distracting noises when the “wrong” answer is chosen, but merely asks again for the quantity. Yes, this app is $5 which seems high on the app store, but most people seem to want everything for free on the appstore. This app only works with 1-10. This app is designed for preschoolers just starting out with math. For these things it does a great job and is worth the price of a coffee or a movie to help your child learn

One star

One star for useless update summary.

Bad design

Needs a menu you can navigate and drill down instead of being forced to do simplistic and boring drills each time. Needs to be more challenging and less boring for kids who can count and want to learn math and not be drilled to boredom.

Wonderful

My 3 yr old actually wants to play this and she has fun doing it. One of the best number learning apps I have seen. I would like it if the number tracing part wasn't so picky when she goes outside the lines but other than that, wonderful app.

recommend passing on this one

feels like i wasted my cash.

The title is totally wrong

I want My Money BACK not adding nor subtracting, wrong, wrong.

Overall okay

Good for those who are just beginning to learn their numbers. My niece liked it a lot.

Miss-leading title

Your company list's this as Intro to math. But there is NO!! adding subtracting, multiplying or dividing. Should be titled intro to numbers or intro to counting. I want my money back :/

Terrible app

I'm pretty upset with this app... The controls are sloppy and the games are incredibly boring. For instance, if you drop a number too early or not precisely on the line you have to watch it slowly crawl back to the bottom of the screen before you can try again. Kids don't have patience for this stuff. Also, you can't speed up the progression of the numbers before each game. In an incredibly boring monotone the game lists 1-10 and forces you to watch. All in all, this game is boring, annoying, and hard to use.

Gmom

Would like to give this a higher rating because I did work in a Montessori school but, can't hear it. Kids can't hear then they don't want to play.

Beautiful but poor playability

This app is gorgeous, I've never seen one so beautiful in color, texture, and font. And the sounds are really nice. The problem is its mechanics. For example, the number identification exercise requires the player to -precisely- place the number on the dotted line. Fine for older kids but frustrating for a two year old. It becomes more an exercise in mechanics than a math lesson. It pains me to watch my son select the correct number and see the app treat it like it was wrong. Similarly, the red circle counting exercise wants you to place the circles in a certain pattern, as opposed to just selecting the correct number of red circles. By mixing mechanics with math, this app just ensures that these exercises won't help kids until a certain age. If this is all Montessori, I'd have to question that whole teaching philosophy. Also, and this may just be an easily solved technical issue, on the iPad, you can't control the volume. It's turned up all the way and you can't turn it down. Really frustrating.

No volume control

I like this app for my girls but CAN WE PLEASE GET SOME VOLUME CONTROL? ITS STUCK ON THE HIGHEST VOLUME SETTING!

Excellent

We love this app. My 3yo can do some of the activities on his own, but there are still plenty of activities for an older/more advanced kid. This app will remain relevant for a long time. Plus, it's easy to use and beautifully designed.

More difficult to navigate

This was one of our favorite apps but it's more confusing now. The big tiles don't show order as well anymore. The back back arrow on the black background my son can't find at all. Much greater contrast problems on skinny nav all around. It worked great before. I don't totally get why this app needed to try and ape Ive's UI.

Great app

I love this app. It is age appropriate for both my 3 and 5 yr old. It has a variety of activities that are fun as well as educational.

Waste of Money

No sound and lots of bugs make this boring and almost unplayable. One of the games doesn't seem to work at all. I want a refund!!

Buggy, unforgiving

First, the good things. This app has a good look. Unfortunately, the app does not work well. Every time my kid leaves an exercise, it starts from the beginning, which quickly becomes tedious. It does not allow the student to progress. User input is disabled regularly to finish a slow animation, so the kid feels the app is not responding. Many simple mis-clicks result in waiting for several seconds for a canned audio to repeat itself. The hit box on some manipulatives, like the number 8, are unforgivably small and result in the above frustration. The number tracing is unforgiving in unreasonable ways, and doesn't allow the user to correct well from a tracing mistake. The algorithm for tracing 8 is broken and can easily result in not learning how to write the numbers correctly. All lessons are presented in the exact same order from no knowledge, to some knowledge. There is no way to customize any of the lessons for someone who is already familiar with the very basics. Many manipulatives look like they can be handled in multiple ways, but they can't, and it is poor enough that the wrong lessons can easily be learned. The sounds never hint at what the user may be doing wrong. It is mindless. I would not recommend this as an app for teaching numbers in the Montessori method, as too many shortcuts have been made.

Great app but fix the bugs

Comment update: My son has enjoyed this app (ipad version) since I purchased it on they day of the release of the latest version, yet its limitations have not yet been addressed. 1. The app does not respond to volume controls. It is set at one volume level and you cannot even mute. 2. THE LANGUAGE OPTIONS. Please! Put language options back in-app. My son speaks spanish and all his apps that have language options are set to Spanish except this one (the most expensive one, by the way). ———— I just purchased version 1.5 for my Spanish speaking 2 year old. This is a great learning tool but this version has some major bugs to fix: 1. There is no language option. Only available option is English. 2. App is not responding to volume controls. So far the only bugs I have come across. Please fix! Thank you for a great product.

About the same as what you'd pay for a large latte

I don't know why people are balking at paying $5 for this app. This app is great no nonsense education for kids learning numbers. My son is nearly four, but is still really struggling to recognize numbers. I hope this app helps him. I like Montessorium apps because they don't contain cute songs or animation that children will find distracting. This app is best suited for children aged 2-4, who are still learning to recognize and write numbers.

Very good for early starters!

My four year old is starting with tracing numbers. She can already count to something like seventeen, but does not draw numbers yet and just starts to recognize their letters. Please improve the German soundtrack (native speaker( and timing (sometimes the words are too close, add half a second or so delay) and please make the language selectable from the App and not based on iOS language! Thanks for a very good app!

Too basic for the cost!

If you have a small child ages 2-3, this is a great introduction math app. For $5, I thought there would be more levels and activities for my four year old... But there isn't. He played it once without any challenges and has moved on. Waste of money.

Great learning tool

This app is great for beginners. It teaches sorting, counting, number recognition and tracing. It follows the Montessori methods and is self correcting.

Great app

This app is worth the money. It has several levels of learning, MUCH more than any free apps. Voice is very clear and direct, the Montessori way, and the look of the app is clean and modern, again, the Montessori way. This is such a great app and my son loves this, and Intro to Letters, also very good. Great education developers!

Do not waste your money

I read parenting magazines review and took the chance at spending the money for the app. Now I know why there is not a free to try option! It is a very basic application and does not offer much of any education. The wood block sorting has the best interface when using but is rudimentary with no chance to increase difficulty as my 4 year old did the one the first try. The number tracing is no better than a host of free applications. I get the idea of having a "Montessori" look and feel to the application with no sound and pseudo wood block look but I certainly feel ripped off. shame on the maker for charging so much for so little. Do not waste your money.

high cost for not much to do.

All of the work only goes up to 10. It has very nice graphics, but I was very disapointed with it. It might be good for maybe a 2 year old, but no older. :( I've been looking for good math apps. for my child and thought I'd found a good one. Too bad.

Number shape inconsistency

This is an elegant app that holds the interest of my three year old and for parts of it, even my kindergartner. There is a small design flaw. When you trace the shape of the number 4, it is a different shape than the number 4s that appear elsewhere. Of course children eventually need to be able to recognize different versions of letters and numbers, but for this early learning app, I think the shapes should be consistent.

Not worth the money

the app is okay. i just thought there would be more to it. my kid liked it at first but is kind of bored with it after a few days. you could buy a few other apps for variety for the price of this one.

pre-math and post-math

the great thing about this app is that it can appeal to children who are pre-math problems and even to children who have started simple addition and subtraction. both my girls (ages 3 and 5) love it! it's not free, but it is worth it!

Not for iPhone

Don't buy this if you are using an iPhone. It does not function properly on the small screen. The sandpaper letters get stuck and cannot be completed. The drag and drop numbers do not snap into place unless very precise movement are used--movements a very coordinated 4-year old (an even mom) can't manage. Both my son and I were excited about this app, but it frustrated him to tears. I can't figure out why they have not created a fix for these problems. What a waste of $. Jennifer

Great App, But no Save?

I love this app. It is not the cheapest app, but it is very well done, with great graphics. For my 3-year old, who can count to 100 but is first understanding the relationship of the numbers, which are bigger, how much bigger, etc, this app is a great. However I'm frustrated that each time you start the app it starts from the beginning as if it has never been used. For a kid with the attention span of a, well, three-year-old, he tends to jump around. He tends to repeat the same exercises but not get to the more advanced work. I would like to see the developers add to this app the ability to remember where the child left off.

Very limited

First the good things - good look and feel. Has the finish of well made app. Now onto where I find it limiting - a very small set of things to do with the annoying voice

Love it!

Great app! Please make more! My 4 yo does great with this. We couldn't afford to send her to a Montessori school but we do apply the method at home. This reinforced her difficult area of numbers. Thanks so much!

Controls are hard to use and way too sensitive

Could be a really good app but the controls are terrible.

Impressive!

My 4 yr old is attending a Montessori school so I purchased this app for reinforcement learning. He has greatly enjoyed it and, as a parent, I have been pleased with the content. Would love to see them add 11-20 level (up to 30 would be ideal!) as my son has grown bored of just 1-10. He also gets frustrated having to start each level from the beginning if he had to stop a previous session before finishing it. It would be great if the app could remember where he left off.

Frustrating for little fingers

It is clear that this app was designed for the iPad. It is just too small on the iPhone and my kids just get frustrated. I think it is lovely and I like that it isn't very noisy, but there's no point if the kids it's designed for can't use it.

beautiful but has problems

My 3yo enjoys this, and it's beautiful. The number rods are absolutely wonderful. However, at least on our ipod touch, it has a hard time following her finger movements. When she drags and drops numbers, it doesn't always "stick", and the sandpaper numbers are very difficult to do, even for me and my 8yo; my 3yo finds it extremely frustrating. I'm really hoping for an update that fixes this.

Outstanding!

Use this app with my 3.5 year old. Loves it and always looks foward to using it. Cheers and claps for herself after every achievement! Also repeats each number after she hears it. Please make more apps.

A little frustrated

Great app. My main frustration is the inability to select the various levels within a lesson. Instead my child must complete all the basic levels before getting to something more challenging. He loses interest on the easy stuff and doesn't get to the more challenging stuff. An update allowing level selection would be fantastic!

Love this app

I have very high expectations as a teacher and this app is awesome! At first I thought it was just 5 activities, but each one has several levels. My only suggestion is to move the arrow and info buttons to the top corners on the tracing activity. My daughter's hand sometimes drags and accidentally hits the buttons.

Clean App!

While, I was hesitant to spend $5 on this application, I am very glad I did! Great hands-on activities that build beautifully on each of the Montessori counting concepts. Audio accompanies appropriately, sounds interact subtly along with very pleasing affirmations during simple lessons, so my child feels a strong sense accomplishment while working in this app. "Shake to clean" perfect way to end this session. Kudos Montessorium! Would buy again!

Just Like School

Minutes after beginning to use this app my 4-year old daughter exclaimed that it was "just like at school mommy!" She has been in Montessori for 2 years now. All the lessons are familiar to her and she enjoys them. I'm knocking off a star because a day later she complained that it's now too easy for her. She still plays with it, but an update with higher numbers would make this app more worth the high price. Otherwise I'd only recommend it for 2-3 year olds.

One of the better math programs. Great for 3-4 year olds

This program is designed well. My child picked up on it instantly. The teaching method is true to the Montessori approach. I wish there was more drills available, especially for $4.99. That would have given it 5 stars.

Just like the works at school

My 4 year old loves this app. The tasks replicate what Montessori students do in the classroom so this app is a great educational supplement. Though we have had some trouble with it being slow, we've not had any of the glitches mentioned in other reviews.

Crashes!!

We've had this App for 25 minutes and it has crashed twice. It is quite irritating because I've had to reinstall it twice. My 4 year old loves it though. I'll gladly retract this bad review if they fix the bug.
